FAQ
What is the intake process?
The initial phone call will just take a few minutes. We will describe services, collect some basic information and send our waitlist application form. When an appointment time becomes available that matches your availability and preferred location we reach out to schedule the initial assessment. The initial assessment will take place in the comfort of your own home or our therapy space.
How soon can I start?
Our wait times for services vary depending on the preferred location of in-office, in-home or virtual as well as the time of day preferred. Wait times for day time appointments are typically shorter with after school appointments typically taking longer.
How much will it cost?
Costs will vary depending on the services and intensity required. Please contact us for pricing inquiries.
Where do services take place?
ABA services in Ottawa will take place in your home, our center or in the community setting where the skill will be used. Locations will vary depending on our goals. We also provide Virtual Services for those who are out of our physical service area.
What will the schedule of services look like?
The schedule will be individualized to your needs, together we will select a goal, intervention and ABA service schedule that fits your goals and scheduling needs.
Does my workplace insurance provide coverage for your services?
Each insurance provider is handling coverage of ABA services differently and each individual typically has a different insurance plan so coverages or approvals vary. We highly suggest contacting your insurance provider directly to double check coverage for services.
What is the difference between a Senior Therapist and a Behaviour
Analyst?
The primary difference lies in their professional certification and level of schooling. A Registered Behaviour Analyst (R.B.A.) is a fully certified and regulated professional who holds a master's degree or higher, has completed extensive supervised fieldwork, and has passed a rigorous certification exam. In contrast, a Supervised Senior Therapist is a skilled practitioner who typically holds a bachelor's degree and is actively working towards their full certification under the direct supervision of an R.B.A. This model ensures that all services are delivered with the direct oversight and guidance of a top-tier professional.
How do you handle my child's privacy and confidentiality?
We treat your child’s privacy and confidentiality with the highest priority. All personal health information is handled and stored securely in compliance with the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA). Our professional conduct standards, regulated by the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO), require us to maintain strict confidentiality.
Can I claim services from a Supervised Senior Therapist for the tax credit?
No, under current Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) guidelines, you cannot claim services from a Supervised Senior Therapist for the Medical Expense Tax Credit (METC). The CRA's eligibility is based on the professional status of the individual who directly provides the service. Therefore, only services provided by a Registered Behaviour Analyst (R.B.A.)—a fully certified and regulated professional—are eligible for this tax credit. We recommend speaking with a tax professional for personalized advice.
Why are the number of Service hours typically less than other ABA agencies?
We have a specialized focus on parent training within our practice. Our services are geared towards working with the entire family meaning less time in direct service and more time using strategies with your child outside of session in real life when you need them.
Are parents required to participate?
In short, yes. Parents are an integral part of services and their involvement in sessions is essential to success.
